It's not much in the way of reassurance, not when the IPRE crew have certainly been met with more than enough hostile natives to the planes they've landed on, but the strange woman in the even stranger outfit certainly has a point. The times they've been most successful at finding the light have always been when they've had help. And in a land as strange as this? Where the light may pass over the sky completely unnoticed due to the spotlights constantly flashing over the clouds? Yeah, they are going to need all of the help they can get.]

Alright, what do you wanna know? I'm not going to lead you straight to my friends, but I'll give you some deets and we can chat this shit out before I make up my mind.

[This is definitely a step in the right direction, so Steph nods, and something in her posture kind of shifts; she wasn't hostile, before, but she seems more relaxed, a little more open.]

I can work with that, let's start with an easy one: what's your home planet? We've got a pretty good database I can check against.

[And barring that they can call a GL]

[Lup shrugs, completely casual despite the words that next come out of her mouth.]

Doesn't matter. It's gone. Been gone for nearly a century.

[Next question!]

[Casual or not, Steph looks sympathetic.]

You're not from Krypton, are you?

[Because that's the main planet she knows of, that's been destroyed, even if Lup doesn't look very Kryptonian.]

Krypton, [Lup repeats with a frown, rolling the name along her tongue, seeing if it strikes up any familiarity with her. After nearly a hundred different planes, it takes her a second to go through the list of all of the names of the ones they'd arrived on. After a moment or two, she shakes her head. Doesn't ring a bell. It may be one of the unnamed planets they'd landed on, one of the ones they'd all playfully fought to name themselves, but definitely not one of the named ones they'd tried to save.]

Nope, not from there and I'm pretty sure we haven't visited either. I don't think.

[That answers more questions than she asked; they haven't just left their home world and dropped immediately to Earth, they're travelers, which she's going to mark in the "good" column for now, since it likely means they aren't targeting Earth in any way. Unless they've been bouncing from planet to planet destroying them? Which would suck.]

Okay, um, question two: why are you here? I know if you're here to be evil you're probably gonna just lie, but I gotta ask.

[Their mission isn't exactly a secret. They've had to use the help of natives in getting the light on more than a few occasions, and while they hate to rile everyone up with talks of impending doom, sometimes that is just the only way people will listen.

Still, Lup's rarely the one left to explain things. She doesn't have the gentle touch that people usually need when hearing their whole world could be consumed by the end of the year.]

Long story short, your world is in danger and my crew is here to try and keep the damage to a minimum. We're looking for a light--[She tilts her chin up and peers up at the sky, barely able to see any of the stars above with how bright the city is. Yeah, this is not so ideal. Lup's hands move to mimic a shape, similar in size to a basketball.] It's a literal ball of light that's going to crash down onto your planet. If we have that, you guys are going to be a lot better off.

[Steph huffs a little laugh, not dismissive, just:]

Our world's always in danger.

[But still, she listens to the rest of what Lup has to say, considering what it might mean. This light of theirs could be a weapon, in which case they really need to ensure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands, whether that's some supervillain, the military, or Lup's crew. Steph feels like she can trust Lup, and usually her gut instinct is pretty good, but they should still proceed with caution.

Steph holds up a finger in a wait gesture, then taps something near her ear; when she speaks it's not directed at Lup.] Hey, O, can we get a vigilante APB out on a ball of light that's gonna fall from the sky, size of a basketball-- yeah, yeah, a literal ball of light. I'll-- okay! I'm asking, no need to get snippy just cause I get to meet the aliens. [And then she looks back at Lup.] Does it have any kind of energy signature that'd make it easier to track?

Sounds familiar.

[Steph interrupts their conversation to talk to someone else that Lup can't see--she must be using some kind of stone of farspeech that's hidden inside of her cowl--and while patience isn't the elf's most defining trait, she crosses her arms and waits, tapping a toe until she's finally addressed.]

Probs, if you had the equipment to do that kind of thing. [It's a giant ball of energy, so there must be some kind of signature there. How else would the Hunger be able to track it down? Wouldn't life be easier if their ship had a 'Light of Creation' radar on it?] But we've just been waiting for it to fall each cycle and I can usually triangulate it's location based off of that.

[To Oracle:] That's a no, might wanna start hacking some satellites. I'll keep you updated.

[She cuts the feed for now, sighing as she looks up at the sky, almost like she's expecting this light to come streaking past at any moment.

Really, she's just making a decision.]

My name's Steph. My actual name, the Batgirl thing is just a code name.

[It's just a name, at the end of the day, and Steph isn't like the Waynes, with their high profile. There are thousands of Stephanies in the world, giving out her name likely won't ruin much, but she's doing it as a show of trust.]

[Hacking satellites, huh? Maybe they'll end up having to do nothing but sit back with mimosas in hand and wait for Steph and her friends to bring the light to them. A second, much weird vacation year.]

Honestly, I kind of dig Batgirl, but Steph it is. [Lup can't quite grasp the full extent of being given one of the Bat fam's real names, but there's something about the other woman's sincerity that shines through, even in the short period they've spoken. Trusting has never come easily to the elf, but it's just one of those things they've had to do over and over again when it came to taking possession of the light.

Other strangers had stepped up to help. Why not believe that Steph was being honest in wanting to help save her world too?]

The name's Lup. Nice to meet you and all that.
