[ryslig] Hyacinth House Cafe.

title or description

Hyacinth House Cafe & Apothecary
Located at 1201 Hyacinth St, Bavan

Following a trail of owners from Madoka Kaname, to Rohan Kishibe, to Princess Anna, her older sister Elsa, and now to the Taaco Twins, Hyacinth House is a classic-style cafe and bakery of simple design and decoration. It features soft, pastel colors and a quiet atmosphere that is purely Neutral territory for all to visit. It is primarily a coffee shop and a bakery with small 'normal' meals that are not necessarily sweets. However, the sweets are what people come to enjoy.

For anyone who frequented the cafe when Madoka or Rohan were the owners and knew it contained a Fog God prayer box, the box is now long gone.

Lup's Spells and Such

♣ CANTRIPS

5 Wizard Cantrips & 1 Elf Cantrip. Unlimited Use.

Dancing Lights [evocation] - Create up to four torch-sized lights within range, making them appear as torches, lanterns, or glowing orbs that hover in the air for the duration. Can also combine the four Iights into one glowing vaguely humanoid form of Medium size. Each light sheds dim light in a 10-foot radius.

Fire Bolt [evocation] - You hurl a mote of fire at a creature or object within range.

Mage Hand [conjuration] - A spectral, floating hand appears at a point you choose within range.

Prestidigitation [transmutation] - This spell is a minor magical trick that novice spell-casters use for practice. You create one of the following magical effects within range:
★ You create an instantaneous, harmless sensory effect, such as a shower of sparks, a puff of wind, faint musical notes, or an odd odor.
★ You instantaneously light or snuff out a candle, a torch, or a small campfire.
★ You instantaneously clean or soil an object no larger than 1 cubic foot.
★ You chill, warm, or flavor up to 1 cubic foot of nonliving material for 1 hour.
★ You make a color, a small mark, or a symbol appear on an object or a surface for 1 hour.
★ You create a nonmagical trinket or an illusory image that can fit in your hand and that lasts until the end of your next turn.

Produce Flame [evocation] - A flickering flame appears in your hand. The flame remains there for the duration and harms neither you nor your equipment.

Shocking Grasp [evocation] - Lightning springs from your hand to deliver a shock to a creature you try to touch.

♣ LEVEL 1

Four Spells a day.

Burning Hands [evocation] - As you hold your hands with thumbs touching and fingers spread, a thin sheet of flames shoots forth from your outstretched fingertips.

Charm Person [enchantment] - You attempt to charm a humanoid you can see within range. The charmed creature regards you as a friendly acquaintance.

Grease [conjuration] - Slick grease covers the ground in a 10-foot square centered on a point within range and turns it into difficult terrain for the duration.

Feather Fall [transmutation] - Choose up to five falling creatures within range. A falling creature's rate of descent slows to 60 feet per round until the spell ends.

Magic Missile [evocation] - You create three glowing darts of magical force. Each dart hits a creature of your choice that you can see within range.

Thunderwave [evocation] - A wave of thunderous force sweeps out from you. Foes are pushed backwards while taking damage.

♣ LEVEL 2

Three Spells a day.

Flame Blade [evocation] - You evoke a fiery blade in your free hand. The blade is similar in size and shape to a scimitar, and it lasts for the duration.

Knock [transmutation] - Choose an object that you can see within range. The object can be a door, a box, a chest, a set of manacles, a padlock, or another object that contains a mundane or magical means that prevents access. A target that is held shut by a mundane lock or that is stuck or barred becomes unlocked, unstuck, or unbarred. If the object has multiple locks, only one of them is unlocked.

Levitate [transmutation] - One creature or object of your choice that you can see within range rises vertically, up to 20 feet, and remains suspended there for the duration. The spell can levitate a target that weighs up to 500 pounds.

Scorching Ray [evocation] - You create three rays of fire and hurl them at targets within range. You can hurl them at one target or several.

Shatter [evocation] - A sudden loud ringing noise, painfully intense, erupts from a point of your choice within range.

Spider Climb [transmutation] - Until the spell ends, one willing creature you touch gains the ability to move up, down, and across vertical surfaces and upside down along ceilings, while leaving its hands free. The target also gains a climbing speed equal to its walking speed.

♣ LEVEL 3

Three Spells a day.

Blink [transmutation] - Roll a d20 at the end of each of your turns for the duration of the spell. On a roll of 11 or higher, you vanish from your current plane of existence and appear in the Ethereal Plane

Fireball [evocation] - A bright streak flashes from your pointing finger to a point you choose within range and then blossoms with a low roar into an explosion of flame.

Lightning Bolt [evocation] - A stroke of lightning forming a line 100 feet long and 5 feet wide blasts out from you in a direction you choose.

Major Image [illusion] - You create the image of an object, a creature, or some other visible phenomenon that is no larger than a 20-foot cube. The image appears at a spot that you can see within range and lasts for the duration. It seems completely real, including sounds, smells, and temperature appropriate to the thing depicted.

Sending [evocation] - You send a short message of twenty-five words or less to a creature with which you are familiar. The creature hears the message in its mind, recognizes you as the sender if it knows you, and can answer in a like manner immediately.

♣ LEVEL 4

Three Spells a day.

Blight [necromancy] - Necromantic energy washes over a creature of your choice that you can see within range, draining moisture and vitality from it.

Fabricate [transmutation] - You convert raw materials into products of the same material.

Fire Shield [evocation] - Thin and wispy flames wreathe your body for the duration, shedding bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. The flames provide you with a warm shield or a chill shield, as you choose. The warm shield grants you resistance to cold damage, and the chill shield grants you resistance to fire damage.

Locate Creature [divination] - Describe or name a creature that is familiar to you. You sense the direction to the creature's location, as long as that creature is within 1,000 feet of you. If the creature is moving, you know the direction of its movement.

Storm Sphere [evocation] - A 20-foot-radius sphere of whirling air springs into existence centered on a point you choose within range. The sphere remains for the spell’s duration.

Wall of Fire [evocation] - You create a wall of fire on a solid surface within range. You can make the wall up to 60 feet long, 20 feet high, and 1 foot thick, or a ringed wall up to 20 feet in diameter, 20 feet high, and 1 foot thick. The wall is opaque and lasts for the duration.

♣ LEVEL 5

Two Spells a day.

Bigby's Hand [evocation] - You create a Large hand of shimmering, translucent force in an unoccupied space that you can see within range. The hand lasts for the spell’s duration, and it moves at your command, mimicking the movements of your own hand.

Immolation [evocation] - Flames wreathe one creature you can see within range.

Passwall [transmutation] - A passage appears at a point of your choice that you can see on a wooden, plaster, or stone surface (such as a wall, a ceiling, or a floor) within range, and lasts for the duration.

♣ LEVEL 6

One Spell a day.

Chain Lighting [evocation] - You create a bolt of lightning that arcs toward a target of your choice that you can see within range. Three bolts then leap from that target to as many as three other targets, each of which must be within 30 feet of the first target.

Sunbeam [evocation] - A beam of brilliant light flashes out from your hand in a 5-foot-wide, 60-foot-long line. Each creature in the line must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 6d8 radiant damage and is blinded until your next turn.

Eyebite [necromancy] - For the spell’s duration, your eyes become an inky void imbued with dread power. One creature of your choice within 60 feet of you that you can see must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be affected by one of the following effects of your choice for the duration:

★ Asleep. The target falls unconscious. It wakes up if it takes any damage or if another creature uses its action to shake the sleeper awake.
★ Panicked. The target is frightened of you. On each of its turns, the frightened creature must take the Dash action and move away from you by the safest and shortest available route, unless there is nowhere to move. If the target moves to a place at least 60 feet away from you where it can no longer see you, this effect ends.
★ Sickened. The target has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks. At the end of each of its turns, it can make another Wisdom saving throw. If it succeeds, the effect ends.

♣ LEVEL 7

One Spell a day.

Delayed Blast Fireball [evocation] - A beam of yellow light flashes from your pointing finger, then condenses to linger at a chosen point within range as a glowing bead for the duration. When the spell ends, either because your concentration is broken or because you decide to end it, the bead blossoms with a low roar into an explosion of flame that spreads around corners.

Finger of Death [necromancy] - You send negative energy coursing through a creature that you can see within range, causing it searing pain.

♣ LEVEL 8

One Spell a day.

Sunburst [evocation] - Brilliant sunlight flashes in a 60-foot radius centered on a point you choose within range.

♣ ABILITIES

In addition to her spells, Lup has the following abilities:

Rifts - Lup's able to rip portals anywhere to hop between different areas or planes, bringing items or people along with her. Basically a free teleport spell, just much flashier.

Flight - Lup can fly without the use of magic.

Form Manipulation - Though still an elf in appearance, Lup has three forms that she can swap between at will. The first is just her normal, elven appearance, which is completely unchanged outside of being cold to the touch, having no heartbeat, and not needing to breathe. From there, she can shift seamlessly into her reaping form, full on skeleton in a long robe, very classic grim reaper. And the last is a ball of floating light, which is essentially just her raw soul. Though Kravitz can take this form to possess others, Lup doesn't have that skill down quite yet, so she isn't able to.

Summoning - Lup can summon her reaper's scythe to her at any point.

Darkvision - superior vision in dark and dim conditions. She can see dim light within 60 feet as if it was bright light, and in total darkness she can see as if it was dim light. Lup can not discern color in darkness. She also is immune to charm and sleep spells.

CRAU History and Impact: A brief bullet-pointed history of Hadriel:
• Lup arrived in Hadriel immediately after her brother had been given his memories of her back. They were from different timelines, him from a future where she was missing, and her from before the point she even left, so it was an emotional reunion that left the woman feeling anxious for the future.
• Lup was quickly thrust into all of the emotional manipulation events that came from Hadriel's gods, some of these including: sharing her most traumatic memories with people, having her memories replaced with fake ones, broadcasting her greatest fears out to others.
• Over the course of her time in Hadriel, Lup built up relationships with her castmates - specifically Taako, Barry, and Lucretia - and all spent time working through their issues of when she'd been gone in their timelines and what had changed in her absence. Some months into her stay in Hadriel, Lup left for a canon update and returned to Hadriel from the moment she'd been broken out of her imprisonment. With the new knowledge she had of her leaving and disappearing and the chaos that ensued after, she was able to better understand and seek forgiveness from them.
• During one of Rage's events, Lup and her husband were influenced into obsessive levels of possessiveness towards one another. It eventually turned to physical violence and once the event abruptly ended, Barry disappeared with his crushing guilt, leaving Lup to try and scramble to pick up the pieces of what he'd left behind. It was difficult for her, Barry being the first person she really grew to love outside of Taako, this man she's trusted so deeply with her heart for over half of a century. Lup was always more upset with his hiding away from her than his influenced actions. It took some time for their reunion and recovery, but the time spent apart only reminded Lup of just how deeply she loved him and wanted to make it work. She feels like their connection is even stronger now after what they had to endure.
• During an event where dreams were shared, Lup got a firsthand look into who her brother was without his memories of their past together, where no Lup ever existed in this life. It was also the moment she learned about Glamour Springs and the people he accidentally poisoned there, the trauma that he still has nightmares of. That was Lup's first real leap into just how devastating her disappearance had been for her twin.
• During the Null's first invasion of Hadriel, Lup got to see her brother stabbed clean through the chest by one of the robots. Taako managed to live, but it was an event that forever shook Lup, that really hit home with the reminder that their lives aren't stuck in perpetual loops they will always come back from. Now death holds so much more consequence.
• Exactly one year after her first canon update, she left and returned to Hadriel again, this time returning from one year after the final battle with the Hunger, now with all of the knowledge of the peaceful lives they have ahead of them.
• Barry eventually disappeared from Hadriel completely, crushing Lup with how abrupt his departure was. Though she knows the man is waiting for her back home, that they have the whole of forever to be together, the idea of him having lost all of the memories they've shared together in Hadriel was devastating. However, at the end of her stay in that place, Lup was gifted with an orb that will return the memory to those who have been in Hadriel and have lost it, so a lot of her previous worries are null now. That doesn't make his absence any easier to deal with.
• In preparation for the final battle with the Null, Hope made a request to all of Hadriel's citizens to vote on how they would like to handle their enemies, if they should be killed or have their personalities completely removed and replaced forcefully. Naturally, considering who she is, Lup chooses to have them killed. Lucretia fights the decision, saying it's kinder to reprogram them. For the first time since her return, after two years of defending Lucretia from her twin at every turn, Lup feels completely taken back and hurt, like she's been lied to. It was a huge shift in their relationship - one they eventually sat out and talked through more, with the connection being made back to Taako - but it still marked a big moment in their history

The most significant piece of Hadriel that Lup is taking with her onwards is the relationships made there.

For the first century of her life, Lup spent it entirely with her twin, no one else ever allowed in. The two grew up distrustful of everyone around them, and therefore, only saw others as a means of entertainment or a way to get ahead. They cheated and conned their way to survive through those younger years, never allowing themselves to form bonds with any of the people around them. And they were quite content with that, with always keeping their distance from the world. To them, they were the only two people who mattered, the only two people who made up their whole lives. But then out of nowhere, the two were thrust into a situation where their planet was suddenly gone and they were forced to spend the next hundred years jumping from planet to planet

During this stolen century, the two got to see dozens of worlds be destroyed and millions of people die. This only served as reminders to not let people in. They learned to never get involved with the people of these worlds, to see them as nothing more than dust, because they would suffer the consequences of becoming too attached at the end of every single year. For Lup, she wanted to save each world and it's populations, and would do anything to make it happen, but she still kept that distance from them, knowing no matter how it turned out, she'd never see these people again once their year was up.

But the crew of seven remained, and over the course of that century, Lup grew to love the five other people onboard the ship like family. Eventually, Lup and Taako expanded their group of two to seven. But they were the only ones.

Immediately after all of this came to an end, Lup was imprisoned in total isolation for nearly twelve years before being thrust into Hadriel. So for Lup, Hadriel was really her first chance at choosing to form real relationships with people outside of her family. It was her first step out into a world where people weren't all immediately distrustful or temporary. It was a long road in her beginning to open up and embrace the strange collection of people she met, but by the end of her stay, she was welcoming new friends with open arms, opening up emotionally in a way she so rarely ever did, showing real kindness and affection for these people she's known for so little. It doesn't mean that opening up is easy for her, but it means she finally feels comfortable doing it, which after two hundred years, is quite the step.

Another important impact from Hadriel, would have to be the reunion and repairing of her relationship with her brother. Before Lup's imprisonment, she fucked off into the night without a word to Taako, leaving nothing behind but a two word note. This alongside him losing his memories of her, has been a giant hurdle for the two to overcome together. It's taken months and many emotional discussions, but the two are finally back in sync and completely open with one another again.

Personality: Lup and Taako may be identical twins with equally wicked senses of humor, both titled singularly as 'the twins', but they are not the same elf and that shows so clearly in the actions they take over the course of the story.

Lup falls perfectly into place beneath the ‘trickster’ category beside her brother, a mischievous woman who loves scamming and hustling just as much as starting bar fights. Growing up the way she did, Lup is very distrustful of everyone she meets, always expecting the worst out of people and almost always getting proved right. Years of being passed on by relatives or being forced to bounce between moving caravans for shelter has taught her to rely on no one but herself and her twin. Due to this detachment from society, Lup takes great pleasure in scamming the people she meets. It’s explained in the first episode of The Stolen Century, that their last night on their home planet, the twins decide to hustle idiots in pool at the local bar, winning effortlessly. Instead of taking the loser’s money, they decide to take his shoes. Not because they are some sweet kicks or useful or worth anything, but they do it simply to punish him, so that he has to walk home through the streets in shame. It’s the little things like that, or her long-standing feud with Greg Grimmaldis (who only owes her fifteen dollars, but she continues to bring it up decades after his death), that show just how aloof and distrustful Lup can be.

That attitude changes over the course of The Stolen Century, of course, if only because during those one hundred years, the IPRE crew all came together as a family, learning to love and trust one another in a way that none of them had ever truly known before. For Lup, she has always just had Taako at her side and that was it. The two grew up struggling for survival on the streets, always fighting against the whole damn world just for her right to live. But quite suddenly, she now has five other people she can rely on, five other people who have stuck by her side for a whole century. She might not find herself being able to trust the rest of the world yet, but her circle is slowly but surely growing.

Despite some of her other more questionable actions, Lup can also be seen to have a very fine-tuned moral compass when it comes to decisions that hold real significance. In episode 61, the IPRE find themselves on a planet full of powerful, but peaceful robots. Lup and her brother have absolutely no qualms with looting the bodies of dead robots for spare parts, but Lup draws a line at harming any that are still functioning. Fearing that the Hunger will swoop down and consume the automatons and become even more powerful, Davenport suggests that the crew kill all of the robots themselves instead, an idea that Taako is completely in favor of. However, Lup is quick to speak out against the others:
"Are we - are we just gonna burn every world that we can’t save? Just to keep the Hunger from getting its hands on it? How does that make us any better than them? [...] This - this is the point where we get to decide who we are. I refuse to let us be - the type of people who would destroy an entire world for any reason. This - this isn’t us! This can’t be how we do this!"

Even though her morals can often seem a bit shaky, Lup takes no delight in hurting the innocent, only those she sees as her enemies. A point that comes back to haunt her during their 99th cycle (in episode 66), when the powerful gauntlet she’s created has fallen into the wrong hands and leaves at least a thousand of innocent people dead. Lup is heartbroken and can’t quite shake the guilt looming over her head (“I just- I can’t help but ask… did we make the right decision?”). It’s this guilt that drives her to leave her brother and her friends without a word, deciding that her conscience can only be cleared by taking her gauntlet back and hiding it away forever.

Going hand-in-hand with her difficult childhood, Lup is more than a little hot-blooded and combative, quick to rise in anger and stubborn as hell. When the crew fell upon the 65th plane, they are held as captives and given a trial for their past sins, where they are read out their crimes. While the rest of the crew at least fights their sentences a little, Lup doesn’t even give the Justices a chance to read them off, deciding to list them herself.
Lup: Uhh wait, I’m gonna guess. I mean, definitely some lust, um… some gluttony in there, probably; pride, for sure—did I miss anything?
Taako: Wrath? Did you for—don’t forget wrath.
Lup: Oh, hella—hella wrath, yeah, definitely. [...]
Lup: Did I get everything?
Justice 3: Yes? H-how do you—how do you plead?
Lup: [laughs] Guilty, yeah.

Along with that, Lup is often rude, abrasive, loud, overly confident, and reckless. She curses freely and says exactly what she’s thinking, no matter how insensitive it might come off as. While Taako and Magnus at least try to be a little subtle about destroying the shitty gifts Merle gave them, Lup just smashes it to the ground at his feet (“Cool! I don’t— I don’t want that. [..] Mm, it’s a dead fish. I don’t want that on my head. Merle, you get that I don’t want that on my head, right?”). When it comes to confrontations, Lup will always be 100% on the side of fight over flight. But, on the opposite end, she’s also courageous, loyal, and selfless to a fault. She would do anything to protect the family that she’s made along the way, even technically giving up her mortal life for the chance to get a one-up on the Hunger by becoming a Lich.

For all of her detachment and faults, Lup is friendly and gregarious, an extrovert in the extreme. She’ll absolutely socialize with anyone and everyone, though she'll quietly be much more picky about the actual people she’ll let in close. She loves pranks and jokes of any kind (especially if she’s the one initiating them), but can also take a good goof from someone else like a champ. When it comes to emotions, Lup is a woman of extremes, feeling the whole spectrum of them intensely. It makes her happiness that much brighter to behold and her wrath that much more terrifying. She's still not as well equipped to deal with serious moments as others with more stable upbringings, oftentimes resorting to jokes to ease the discomfort she feels.

Lup is also a bit of a master of the arcane sciences by this point, having graduated at the top of her class (with Taako) from university and then having spent the last one hundred years studying the Light of Creation along with Barry. She's shown to be extraordinarily smart, the whole plan of creating the grand relics to hide from The Hunger coming from the two of them.

Since the defeat of the Hunger and a new peace has settled into their lives, Lup has been working to find her place, both within her family's lives and within the world as a whole. While she was frozen in time, everything and everyone kept moving forward, and now she's struggling to catch up. Lup pretends to not be so bothered by it, turning more towards her joy in just being free again, but there's always a note of worry and fear in the back of her mind. It helps that she has so much to do now - there's reconstruction to this world, relationships to rebuild, and a new job to throw herself into - but it's still always there, especially coming out when she's alone.

After her decade-long imprisonment, Lup has a deep fear of the dark, small spaces, and of not being seen/heard. Even this long since she's been freed, she still has frequent nightmares of being captive and can fall into severe panic attacks when trapped.

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping: Lup is a level 16 DnD wizard (5th edition), which means everything is overly complicated. In DnD, wizards cast their spells by using their acquired magical knowledge and experience. To do this, they have to prepare a certain number of spells daily that can be used, but once those have been used up, they are completely out until they are able to take a long rest (eight hours) and recharge their spell slots. Going a little further into things, Lup is specifically an Evocation Wizard, which is described as a spellcaster who "creates powerful elemental effects such as bitter cold, searing flame, rolling thunder, crackling lightning, and burning acid." Her full list of spells is right over here.

Wizard magic doesn't come with any weaknesses exactly, except that wizards themselves are a little physically frail and have that limit of just how many spells they can cast a day. For warping though, I'd love to see Lup's spells backfire more frequently or just totally do the reverse of what she expects. Specifically, I'd like for her magic to become increasingly more unstable depending on the level of the spell. For example, a basic cantrip like Produce Flame would work nine times out of ten. But a level eight spell like Sunburst would actually only work one in ten times. Some wonky side effects of her backfired spells could be Fabricate creating something fleshy and horrific instead of what she's trying to make or Sending sending her a dark whispered message from no one instead of her sending one out to someone else. I specifically want these side effects to be more on the horror side to stay true to the setting.

Along those same lines, all of her necromancy-based spells will work as intended.

As an elf, Lup also has Darkvision, which is described as superior vision in dark and dim conditions. She can see dim light within 60 feet as if it was bright light, and in total darkness she can see as if it was dim light. Lup can not discern color in darkness, only shades of grey. She also is resistance to charms and immune to sleep spells. Elves also do not need to sleep to feel rested, they only need to fall into a trance-like meditation for four hours.

In addition to her spells as a wizard, Lup also has the following abilities granted to her by the Raven Queen:

Form Manipulation: Though still an elf in appearance, Lup has three forms that she can swap between at will.

Portal Rifts: Lup's able to rip portals anywhere to hop between different areas or planes, bringing items or people along with her. Basically a free teleport spell, just much flashier.

Flight: Lup can fly without the use of magic.

Summoning: Lup can summon her reaper's scythe to her at any point.

As a reaper, Lup is weak to light or radiance-based attacks. In regards to her powers warping in Deerington, Lup is going to have a much more difficult time shifting between her different appearances except for when her emotions are running high, then it's going to be difficult to hold onto her appearance. Just imagine the skin of her face melting away to reveal the skeleton beneath, but then almost immediately, reversing, then melting again, leaving patches of bone peeking through flesh. Gross things!! Her portals will also only work properly sometimes, other times opening up in random spots around town, but more frequently dropping her right into the forest.

Lup has a language proficiency as she's fluent in six different languages. She's also an accomplished cook, having worked with her twin in the kitchen for over two hundred years now. The pair have spent a full century going from world to world around the universe and enjoying all of the different kinds of cuisines available there. During this time, they not only were able to learn new techniques in the kitchen, but they also had to forrage and make do with ingredients they didn't fully understand. Because of this and their childhood of scavenging, the two are very skilled in making a meal out of anything.

Deerington CR Chart

Castmates.. song lyric.

taako.
the adventure zone | pocketspa

»» relationship: twin brother
Her twin brother and her heart, Taako is the closest feeling to home that Lup's ever known. The two of them have lived through everything together, including at least a hundred different world-ending apocalypses, knowing full well that their scrappy childhood was only survivable because they had one another to rely on. Hadriel brought them some much needed time to fall back into sync with one another after their forced years apart, with each horrific event experienced just bringing them closer and closer together.

As long as they are together, they can make it through anything.
lucretia.
the adventure zone | madamdirector

»» relationship: family
Lup's dearest friend of over a hundred years.

Stuck on a ship full of men, it was only natural that the only two women onboard the Starblaster would become quick friends, seeking each other out for gossip, a safe place to vent, and for laughs. Lucretia easily became one of Lup's best friends during this time, a friendship that has only continued to blossom and thrive since then, even with all of their history behind them. No matter how her brother may feel about the woman, Lup still loves and forgives Lucretia completely for what happened, and though they have fought about it on occasion, at the end of the day, Lup will always welcome Lucretia back with open arms.

angus.
the adventure zone | hellosirs

»» relationship: nephew
Angus may be the newest member of the family, the honorary eighth member of their little crew, but he's already carved out a chunk of space in Lup's heart. Considering how rarely her respect is given, it should be noted that Lup truly respects Angus, doesn't just like him cause he's a cute kid, but sees him on her own level, his own person with a brilliant mind of his own. Still, she's trying her best to make sure he gets the chance to live out a few real childhood experiences, ones that her and her brother never had the chance to have.
kravitz.
the adventure zone | scytheseeing

»» relationship: coworker/brother-in-law
Her brother's ridiculous and very dead boyfriend, Kravitz has a surprisingly big heart for being the grim reaper. He's accepted Taako and his family with as much grace as can be expected, and has even managed to worm his way into Lup's heart. Just slightly.

Now they work together as a team for the Raven Queen and that goes about as well as you'd expect.

Important Hadriel Relationships. song lyric.

barry.
the adventure zone | barold

»» relationship: husband
Her husband. Her best friend. Her collaborator in all things. Barry is the love of her life and beyond. After nearly a full century together, the man knows her better than anyone. Straight from their very first encounter, Lup honed in on Barry as someone she could effortlessly tease and bully, but it didn't take long for the flimsy professional boundaries between them to drop away, leaving the two to discover how deep their feelings went. They've been together now for over sixty years, bound together through their first and second lives.

Losing him while in Hadriel was one of the hardest things Lup's ever had to face, but now she's just that much more determined to get back to him. There's a whole future waiting for them there.
magnus.
the adventure zone | armcollector

»» relationship: family
The baby brother of the family.

Magnus was the first one on the ship for Lup to really make a connection with. His infectious optimism and general recklessness are traits that the woman herself shares, so the two of them play well off of each other's high energy, leading to many heroic rescues and just as many needless deaths together. He's a dear friend, one of the few Lup would trust to fight at her side.

merle.
the adventure zone | weedbgon

»» relationship: family
Despite how aloof he seems and how awful he is at keeping his party alive, it didn't take long for Lup to warm up to the dwarf over the course of their one hundred year mission, his inability to ever take anything seriously both a blessing and an irritation depending on the situation.

While in Hadriel, Merle worked wonders at keeping Lup grounded when her very nature told her to act instead of waiting around, his oftentimes pointless distractions something that Lup came to rely on when the gods were trying to play with their emotions. And though she wouldn't say it aloud, her love for the dwarf only increased when he refused to come down hard on Lucretia while she was here. Lup will always remember this.
drake holloway.
izombie | braveoff

»» relationship: best friend
Drake was one of Lup's closest friends in Hadriel, the steady voice of reason in all of their lives, guiding Lup with a gentle hand instead of scolding for her outbursts.

Drake easily had the warmest heart that Lup's ever known, which makes his status as a zombie all the more heartbreaking, especially considering how peaceful he always operated, guiding Lup and Ephemera towards the non-violent resolution, even if it was so against their very natures. Even when the world seemed against him, he was always thoughtful and considerate, running into burning buildings to save strangers and choosing to be locked up before he can hurt others. There's a part of Lup that wishes she could be more like him, selfless and kind, willing to sacrifice more for the sake of those she loves, but she's just not as good as he is. He was one of the few people in Hadriel outside of her family that could actually get her talking, even if it took some time, but his patience usually paid off.

nathan drake.
uncharted | nonscriptum

»» relationship: friend
Nate was one of Lup's first friends within Hadriel, a relationship that lasted the full of her two year stay in that space. Though she liked the man enough on her own, the false memories that Hadriel implanted in their head's during their fake Pleasant Valley life only had that fondness for him grow. He's a part of the crew now, whether he wanted to be or not, someone that Lup would easily trust with her back in a fight.

She hopes that wherever he is now, he's with his wife, Elena.
elena fisher.
uncharted | storyseeker

»» relationship: best friend
Elena was one of Lup's first and easily her closest female friend in Hadriel, the one she turned to when the situation just needed a woman's delicate touch. It says a lot that Lup managed to open up to Elena at all in the short time they'd known one another, a true test of how much she trusted this woman.

Hadriel threw the two quite a few curveballs during their time there, but for each new trouble that popped up, the two women were utterly unshakable in their dedication to one another. When Elena needed a place to crash during her and Nate’s brief separation, Lup was there to whisk her away with open arms and as much booze as possible, opening up with her advice in a show of true vulnerability that she so rarely let anyone see. But she trusted Elena of all people to not drag her for her emotions, which is more than Lup can say for most folks.

alphys.
undertale | sciencelizard

»» relationship: friend
Alphys will always be Lup's favorite kind of nerd. Though their relationship started with the elf aiming only to tease and flirt with the other woman till she was red in the face, things shifted quickly after some shared experiences delving into their backgrounds, where they both were able to see the other more clearly. Lup can all too relate to the guilt that Alphys can’t ever seem to shake off, the same kind of guilt that Lup herself feels weighed down by at times.

The kind of scars they’ve left on the world don’t ever go away, no matter how hard they try to avert their eyes, but Lup knows they both can continue to live on.
ellie.
the last of us | survivorsguilt

»» relationship: friend
A young, scrappy girl that Lup always saw her younger self in, Ellie immediately wiggled her way into Lup’s heart without even meaning to. Within a handful of months, the two experienced so much together: the Null invasion, Ellie's unfair murder, Magnus' sudden disappearance and then his immediate return without his Hadriel memories. Lup never meant to take the position she had in Ellie's life, something almost familial, but it
just developed over the time they spent together.

gren.
wolf among us | murderpotato

»» relationship: friend
What started as outright trolling managed to become one of the more unexpected friendships in Lup's life. Gren was always more than he seemed. On the outside, he looked scruffy, unapproachable, someone Lup wouldn't ever be caught hanging with, but after saving her life by sacrificing his own, something changed. With Hope's powers faint after the Null attack, Gren was brought back temporarily deaf, and sometime between the topics of vore and whether loving races with shorter lifespans was worth the inevitable pain, they developed a surprisingly deep relationship

When Rage's influence turned her husband violently possessive, it was Gren that Lup sought out without hesitation, trusting he'd keep her safe.
ephemera.
red vs blue | requiemshark

»» relationship: friend
Who knew that a man like Ephemera would end up being one of Lup's favorite people in Hadriel? Their friendship started off with small favors back and forth, paints and cookies and lighting people up, but they quickly dropped the pretense of needing anything to just hang. Since experiencing the dream of his sister, Lup became much more protective of the man, the image of Chica dying in his arms a nightmare that she could never forget. Despite how much they don't say around one another, they seemed to understand each other perfectly.

UP IN FLAMES

Icon for Hire

[]

I don't wanna say what I got on my mind
'Cause nothing tonight wants to come out on time
The truth is I'd rather sit out and unwind
Let somebody else tell their story this time

I wonder what happened to give me the right
To step on a platform and pick up a mic
And tell you the way to be living your life
'Cause all my credentials were lies

You've had your say, now take your seat
I know my place, you don't know me

I'll probably end up in flames before the end of the night
Watch me burn in the fire, watch me bid you goodbye
Your words fall right off the page like they fall on deaf ears
You know that it's over, nothing left for you here

I waited too long, letting people like you tell me what they want
And what I shouldn't do
So mark me with words, but you can't tie my hands
There's nothing I'll say to make you understand

I know who I am, I know where I'll end up:
In flames & that's fine 'cause I'm finally fed up
Stick with what I started, don't care how it hurts
The loudest get shot, at the worst

You've had your say, now take your seat
I know my place, you don't know me

OOC INFORMATION
Name: Mey

Other Characters: N/A

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character Name: Lup
Age: Physically in her mid-twenties, but actually closer to 220~ due to being an elf and some sick stuck in time bullshit.
Canon: The Adventure Zone: Balance
Canon Point: Episode 69, post-canon
Character Information: Here is a link to her wiki!

Personality: Lup and Taako may be identical twins with equally wicked senses of humor, both titled singularly as 'The Twins' in the Prophecy, but they are not the same elf and that shows so clearly in the actions they take over the course of the story.

Lup falls perfectly into place beneath the ‘trickster’ category beside her brother, a mischievous woman who loves scamming and hustling just as much as starting bar fights. Growing up the way she did, Lup was very distrustful of everyone she met, always expecting the worst out of people and almost always being proved right. Years of being passed on by relatives or being forced to bounce between moving caravans for shelter had taught her to rely on no one but herself and her twin. Due to this detachment from society, Lup takes great pleasure in scamming the people she meets. It’s explained in the first episode of The Stolen Century that their final night on their home planet, the twins decide to hustle some idiot in pool at the local bar, winning effortlessly. Instead of taking money from the loser, they decide to take his shoes. Not because they are some sweet kicks or useful or worth anything, but they do it simply to punish him, so that he has to walk home through the streets in shame. It’s the little things like that, or her long-standing feud with Greg Grimmaldis (who only owes her fifteen dollars, but she continues to bring it up decades after his death), that show just how distant and distrustful Lup can be.

That attitude begins to change over the course of The Stolen Century, if only because during those one hundred years the IPRE crew all came together as a family, learning to love and trust one another in a way that none of them had ever truly known before. For Lup, she has always just had Taako at her side and that was it.

Even though her morals can often tiptoe into the gray, Lup takes no delight in hurting the innocent, only those she sees as her enemies.

When the crew fell upon the 65th plane, they are held as captives and given a trial for their past sins, where they are read a list of their crimes. While the rest of the crew at least fights their sentences a little, Lup doesn’t even give the Justices a chance to read them off, deciding to do it herself.
She curses freely and says exactly what she’s thinking, no matter how insensitive it may come off as.

She's shown to be extraordinarily intelligent, the whole plan of creating the Grand Relics to hide from The Hunger coming from the pair of them.

Since the defeat of the Hunger brought along a new sense of peace into their lives, Lup has been working to find her place, both within her family's lives and within the world as a whole.

After her decade-long imprisonment, Lup has a deep fear of the dark, small spaces, and of feeling invisible. Even this long since she's been freed, she still has frequent nightmares of being captive and can fall into severe panic attacks when trapped.

5-10 Key Character Traits: Gregarious, Flirty, Abrasive, Passionate, Courageous, Reckless, Wrathful, Loyal, Cocky

ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME

Coldplay

[]

Turn your magic on
Umi she'd say
Everything you want's a dream away
And we are legends, every day
That's what she told me

Turn your magic on, to me she'd say
Everything you want's a dream away
Under this pressure, under this weight
We are diamonds

Now I feel my heart beating
I feel my heart underneath my skin
And I feel my heart beating
Oh, you make me feel
Like I'm alive again
Alive again
Oh, you make me feel
Like I'm alive again

Said I can't go on, not in this way
I'm a dream that died by light of day
Gonna hold up half the sky and say
Only I own me

If we've only got this life
This adventure, oh then I
And if we've only got this life
You'll get me through
And if we've only got this life
In this adventure, oh then I
Want to share it with you
With you, with you
Yeah I do
